Former Royal Mail Sorting Office, Wick Lane, Christchurch
Planning permission was granted by the Council’s Planning Committee with a unanimous vote to grant for the redevelopment of the Former Royal Mail Sorting Office in Christchurch town centre with 10 cottages, 4 flats, 3 shops and office space. Wick Lane suffered from a brutalist mid-20th century building constructed from a hard brick and with high walls that jarred with the attractive and varied appearance of buildings along Wick Lane.
Using the surrounding local architecture as a guide, the scheme was developed alongside the Council and with the local community carrying out a public consultation part way through the design process that bolstered local support.
